Terry Edwards asked:

Golf grip tips are important for so many reasons, but are often not given much thought. Many newer golfers mistakenly believe you can hold the golf club any which way and then strike a drive down the center of the fairway. I wish it were that easy.

It’s been said that over 90% of all miss hits are do to a wrong grip on the club. With that being the case, how do you know what golf grip is best for your swing? Here’s a look.

Since all golfers are different, we all have our own unique grip. It’s just like no two golf swings are just alike.

How To Find Your Natural Golf Grip

To find your natural grip you’ll want to stand up straight. Now simply let your arms and hands hang down at your sides. Next, look down and see how many knuckles you see. For most people it will be two, but it could also be three.

Next, grab any one of your golf clubs and take a grip on it, but with a catch. As you take your grip, be sure you keep the same number of knuckles visible as you had while your hands were hanging down. This is your natural golf grip.

For many golfers this grip may feel a bit awkward at first. That’s ok, it will become routine in time, but for now you are trying to establish the correct golf grip that squares up your clubface at impact and keeps your ball in the fairway.

Golf Grip Tip Adjustments

Now that you have your natural grip, let’s see if you need to make any quick adjustments. Where are the “V’s” pointing as you take your grip and stance? They should be pointing toward your nose and right shoulder.

Are you gripping the club with your palms or fingers? Be sure to use your fingers and not the palm. This produces “feel”.

Ok, you have your new grip. Now it’s time to go to the practice range and hit some real golf balls.

As you begin hitting balls, keep track of where they are flying. Are they slicing to the right? If so, move your “V” more towards your shoulder. This will give you a stronger grip.

If your shots are hooking left, then do the opposite.

Once you begin hitting straight shots you know you have the grip that is perfect for you. I hope this golf grip tip helps you play better golf in the future. It will take a little patience and practice, but it is something that will stick with you forever.

How To Drive A Golf Ball Farther More Consistently

Shakil Zaman asked:

The driver can be without a doubt the most difficult club in the bag to hit. The reason for this is because it is longer and even the slightest swing flaw can put the wrong kind of spin on the ball resulting in either a slice or a hook. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when learning how to hit this club.

Tip 1: Maintain balance

Balance is critical in the golf swing because a balanced golf swing is usually much more accurate and on plane than an unbalanced one. One of the keys to staying balanced is to swing within yourself. You need to know your limits and then swing with control. Remember that it is not necessary to swing hard in order to hit the golf ball far.

Distance comes from making good contact and also from launching the ball at the correct launch angle and putting the right kind of spin on the ball. The formula for hitting a monster drive in the fairway can be rather complex but it is not impossible to accomplish.

Tip 2: Use proper equipment

The driver you choose should be based on your current swing speed. If your club head speed is under 100 mph then you need to choose a driver that has a regular flex and has loft greater than 10 degrees. If your club head speed is over 100 mph then a club with a stiff flex and loft lower than 9 degrees would be appropriate.

Tip 3: Build your wrist muscles

The wrist muscles play a vital role in swinging a golf club. Many tour players that look really skinny still have very powerful wrist muscles. This helps them to control the club and generate great club head speed. One way to build wrist muscles is to do wrist curls. Simply take some dumbbells and hold them to your side while standing and then move your wrists up and then down slowly. Make sure you feel your wrist muscles working and do not get other muscles involved in lifting the weights.

Tip 4: Practice

I hate to say this but there is no magic cure to hitting drives far and straight overnight, at least none that I have come across yet. The fact is that you will have to put the time and commitment necessary to learn the golf swing. This does not mean that you have to beat 500 golf balls a day. Rather hitting even a small bucket with focus and purpose on every shot can be effective done 3 to 5 times a week.

Focus on quality rather than quantity during your practice sessions. We all lead busy lives and most of us simply cannot commit massive amounts of time and energy to just golf so make sure you practice smart rather than hard.

Tip 5: Use leverage more effectively

There are a lot of tour pros that hit the golf ball a mile but they look really thin. Usually we would think that it is the big muscular guys that hit the ball far however in golf, leverage is the ticket to hitting the ball farther. Leverage is the angle created between the left hand and the club shaft on the downswing just before impact. You want this angle to be as small as possible so that the stored energy is released at the last moment and is transferred to the ball.

One way to create more leverage effortlessly is to think of the club as a whip and feel yourself whipping the golf club through the hitting zone. Also try to avoid getting your right hand involved in the down swing if you are a right handed player since this tends to result in casting the club or releasing the leverage angle too early, instead feel yourself pulling the club with your left hand through the downswing. Use some of these golf driving tips to help you hit the golf ball farther and straighter.

Try These Easy Golf Swing Tips

Robert Kokoska asked:

How many times do we do it - we come off the golf course, completely disgruntled with the round we have just played, and turn on the Golf channel on TV to try and find that elusive good swing tip. Of course when we do this we are just bombarded with a perplexing array of artificial aids that are somehow supposed to instill in us the good habits inherent to a great golf swing. I dare say if we bought into some of them we would turn up at the driving range looking like we were on a NASA mission to Mars, with various bits and pieces strapped on to or hanging off us.

Firstly do remember; if it aint broke - dont try to fix it. You see this with professionals as much as amateurs. They convince themselves somethings not right with their swing, pay a guru to come up with changes to it and still not see any improvement in their game. Weve all seen out on the course some atrocious swings: flat ones, loopy ones and downright off balance ones. But if youre getting distance and accuracy - dont worry. Not everyone has the physique and suppleness of Tiger or Sergio.

Having said that I have got absolutely no doubt that a good golf swing tip is - get help from your club professional. A few dollars spent with him or her will result in your - individual/personal - golf swing being analyzed and being told what to do to correct it. Again, its not a question of having the perfect swing, what you need is a consistent swing that strike after strike will deliver the ball the same distance.

That way you are not falling short of or over shooting your target, leaving you with awkward shots that pile the strokes onto your card. After that lesson what do you need to do? Practice that swing of course, its no good just going out once a week on the course and expect great results. You have got to make that swing second nature to yourself. As instinctive as knowing exactly how much to turn the steering wheel in your car, now when was the last time you needed to think about that!

We all know that a lot of our golf swing problems are in our heads. My golf partner and I are both high handicappers, after a bad shot we will both turn to each other and say - I should have walked away and re-set before playing that shot or I knew I was gripping too tightly. But oh no, that little demon tells us in our heads - it is OK you will adjust it in your down-swing etc. We both know we have got decent swings for our handicaps, but we also know that a bad shot is often due to losing concentration for a moment. Now then where did I put that book on zen and the art of golf?

Jana Chen asked:

Whether you are a professional golfer or a learner, golf driving tips will help you join the list of famous world known golfers like Tiger Woods. Even though there are other important tips that you will be required to learn, a golf drive is more important than them. Why, the tips on making a golf drive will help you determine the kind of golf shots to make. Driving the golf ball will determine the as it will help you determine the remaining holes.

How can you be accurate in hitting the golf ball if you don’t learn important tips of driving the golf ball? How will do you generate more power to make your drive as longer as you want? Golf driving tips are mandatory and shunning away from them means no performance in golf. Some of the driving tips that a golfer learner or a trained golfer who has problems with his or her drive will apply for better performance are:

First, keep your eyes focused on the game. An experienced golfer ensures that his or her eyes line on golf is kept parallel to the target line. This will help determine the correct path of the club during impact. To ensure that the club maintains the correct path, it will be very efficient for the eyes of the golfer to be parallel with the target line. Pointing the eye line to the left or to the right will bring excessive steepness or excess inside move.

Secondly, golf driving tips will see that golfers will only allow their golf clubs do the work. As a beginner of golf game, ensure that only the golf driver do the driving for you. Using your own strength will make you either smash the ball or loose the target. It should be noted that golf clubs are designed to do only some specific functions (the clubs for making long distance drives and those of short distance drives).

Swing your golf club with less power. Making a golf swing at 100% driving power, it is very certain that you will easily loose you balance therefore you will have a reduced distance for making the swing. A 70% swing power will help you maintain an appropriate balance meant to give you a good golf distance.

Lastly, let the golf driving tips help you make an aggressive rotation of your hips. Tiger Woods has been known for making aggressive hip rotation during down swings. This aide in creating an improved torque meant to give you high club speed and a longer ball distance.

Slicing the golf ball once is embarrassing. Slicing the golf ball swing after swing is humiliating. One of the fastest way to improve your golf game is to study and understand the correct golf swing mechanics and read lots of golf driving tips.
