Golf Tips - Top 10

golf tips
Edward Charkow asked:

I hope you enjoy my golf playing tips. This is my top 10 list of sorts; it contains helpful insights into the game of golf and the psyche it requires. Remember to read this with a grain of salt (around the rim preferably).

1) This is a game, only a game, it is not war and your neighbor is not the enemy. This should go without saying but feuds have begun and never ended over the exciting sport of golf. You should especially keep this in mind when playing your boss, there is no shame in letting your boss win.

2) The only person you should ever really play against is yourself. It sounds silly, but keep your old score cards; take note of improvements and declines (while everyone has a bad day a consistent decline could indicate a problem with your game). If you play only against yourself there really can’t be any hard feelings when the game is over.

3) The looser always buys the beer. This works well if you are playing against yourself as I recommended. That way you are only buying beer for one. It makes for a much cheaper date.

4) If all seems lost and you have no club that will get the job done, a good nice kick could be in order (enough said).

5) Save the beer for the clubhouse and not the course. Hot beer tastes bad and you should never, ever drink and drive. You also never want to drive backwards on a golf course (see number 7).

6) The ducks on the driving range are not for target practice. Besides if you start aiming for them, the other birds might start aiming for you.

7) Let faster players go on ahead of you, especially in the beginning, besides it’s always better to be behind in golf, most people don’t shoot backwards if you know what I mean.

8) If you are having a bad round of golf, start playing silly shots. You just might find your game improves when you stop being too serious. Seriously.

9) Be considerate of those around you. Wear a belt and tuck in your shirt please. No one wants to see a full moon in the middle of the afternoon, especially one that is reflected by the sun.

10) Unless you want to be the take and bake of the day, be sure you pack your sunscreen. Lobster is great on the menu, not on the golf course. Besides we deal with enough pain on the course without adding to it.

I hope you realize that my top 10 list is somewhat tongue in cheek. There are however some pearls of wisdom in there, particularly about the ducks. My overall point is that golf, while challenging is supposed to be recreational. In other words, you’re supposed to have fun. I hope my little list reminds you of that very fact and you think of this the next time you are getting ready for a game of golf (particularly as you dress, see number 9).

Free Golf Swing Tip

Saturday, March 28th, 2009
golf tips
D Fraser asked:

Golf swing tips are now almost everywhere. On the tv, surfing the internet, or in your favority magazine you can find a free golf tip from someone. Not to mention your pals who are ready to offer you a free golf swing tip whenever you are looking for one. Online golf tips are quickly becoming the information source of choice for golfers, the information age has made it easier then ever to get the answer.

So the question we need to ask ourselves is, does a free golf swing tip give us the help we need or send us on a wild goose chase? If you spend some time researching you’ll find that some free golf swing tips are better left alone. Because not all free tips are created equal some professionals and instructors suggest it’s best for golfers to just ignore any free swing tips.

You should evaluate what the free golf swing tip is asking you to do. For instance a tip telling you to swing at the ball with all your strength is seriously incorrect.

Some golfers are seen doing just that how ever, attacking the ball with such strength it’s almost impossible they won’t injure themselves at the same. Another improper tip is to twist over the wrists in an effort to increase the club head speed right before contact is made with the ball. Like the last free golf swing tip mentioned twisting of the wrists is likely to cause injury as well.

The right free golf swing tip will help develop the correct exercises and techniques that condition the golfers body to do the work rather then just b. A genuine free golf swing tip should increase strength in the golf muscles, leading to better results.

Particular free golf swing tips will help build more strength and power in your swing, helping you play a better game over time. Any free golf swing tip that emphasizes this point is bound to be genuine and may have a positive effect on your golf swing.

One thing that free golf swing tips do, is help the golfer thing more about your swing mechanics rather then just focusing on driving the ball hundreds of yards into the fairway, or dropping it in the cup on the green.

Of course it’s difficult to know if the person supplying you with the free golf swing tips is a genuine instructor or pro. Of course there is no better way to determine this then to use your own judgment before you begin to learn a new technique or practice a new drill. Everyone has an opinion on how a proper golf swing should be done, as well as what technique or drill you should be practicing to increase your drive.

Callaway Golf - Tips And Useful Information For The Avid Golfer Part 1

Thursday, March 26th, 2009
golf tips
David Riewe asked:

Callaway Golf is one of the most respected names in the golf industry for its quality of products that cater to both recreational and professionals alike. As part of its efforts to give its customers the best, the company produced Callaway Golf Magazine and released its first issue early in 2004. Just recently, last November 2005, the Custom Publishing Council (CPC) of New York City’s University Club made the magazine the Bronze Award winner for Best New Publication.

The magazine is distributed to loyal customers, upscale golf clubs and key retailers free of charge and is also available online for downloading from the company’s website. The publication, with a distribution output of over 800,000 quarterly, has useful information not found in most golf consumer magazines.

For one thing, Callaway Golf magazine features exclusive content such as interviews with Callaway Golf Staff Professionals. Michael Campbell, Phil Mickelson, and Annika Sorenstam are just some of the names that have been associated with Callaway.

Aside from interviews and the information on Callaway’s latest offerings, the magazine also contains useful tips on golfing provided by none other than the company’s own staff professionals.

In its first issue (February 2004) Annika Sorenstam featured tips on efficient swings. The Swedish Sorenstam tops the LPGA’s list of the highest average driving distance with a yardage of 269.7 after making the ERC Fusion her driver of choice.

A brief sampling of that feature (which you, too, can use for your own game) follows:

1. At address, Annika focuses primarily on good balance and comfort, with her whole body relaxed and tension-free.

2. Annika maintains the relationship formed between her club, hands, arms and shoulders, sweeping the club away low to the ground.

3. Annika rotates her upper body away from the target, while swinging her hands into a position directly above her right shoulder.

4. Annika drops the club into the hitting position while retaining her wrist angle. Her arms, shoulders and body release together.

5. At impact, the ball gets in the way of the club. The feeling is of “collecting” the ball as she releases her hands, arms and clubhead.

6. Annika points her right shoulder at the target and keeps her spine straight. Her key thought is complete her follow-through.

(From Callaway Golf Magazine ISSUE 1 FEBRUARY 2004)

These tips along with other useful in-depth information on Callaway’s products (such as the Big Bertha Titanium 454 Driver or the HX golf balls with the hexagonal dimple system) all serve to present its readers the exciting possibilities that Callaway can offer golfers of any level.

Five Quick Golf Tips

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009
golf tips
Brad Myers asked:

We get asked all of the time for quick golf tips. The question usually comes from someone who has to play in a corporate golf tournament or they are someone who does not play often and they are going on vacation and will have a chance to play a round at a prestigious golf course and are looking for quick golf tips. Here is a list of five free quick golf tips to enjoy your corporate event or vacation.

1. If you have any time before your event to practice, you do need to take advantage of this. Current golf instruction will say that you should spend twice as much time on your short game as you do your full swing. I know, I know, I know. How are you going to get the ball to the green? Without much time before the event, you will improve faster by spending time on getting the ball in the hole as opposed getting the ball just close to the green. If you do not get to play often, chances are that you hit many of your irons close to the same distance. Unless you have time for some golf instruction, this will not be fixed in a short period of time. Get the feel for and mechanics of chipping, pitching and putting.

2. When it comes time to play your round, make sure you loosen up before the round. By loosening up your muscles, you are allowing yourself to relax and prepare your body for the athletic movements you will be making during your round. Your time should also include some time on the practice putting green. You will want to become familiar with the speed of the greens.

3. Grip pressure and arm tension is something that all golfers should monitor during every single swing. Your shoulders and your forearms should not feel like they have any tension in them at all. To give you an example, if you take your grip and hold the club out in front of you with the shaft parallel to the ground. If your shoulders and forearms are relaxed enough then the golf club should drop to the ground. This is the feeling of how relaxed your shoulders and forearms should be during your golf swing.

4. Balance is an underestimated part of the golf swing by most amateurs. In your setup, you will need to check your balance from side to side (left to right) as well as from front to back. You can do this by simply swaying side to side until you feel balanced and do the same from front to back. This will allow you to find your perfect balance. Now the key is once this is found you may need to move closer to the ball or farther away from the ball to stay in balance.

5. Once you start playing your round of golf, leave your ego at home and make and aggressive swing at a conservative target. What does this mean? Do not always go flag hunting on every hole. With not playing very often you are not going to hit every shot where you are looking. Increase your chances of playing better by aiming at the largest part of the green or the part of the green you are most comfortable with trying to hit a golf shot.

Assuming you do not have much time until your event, use these five quick golf tips to have a successful day. To conclude the five quick golf tips, let me give you the best of all of the quick golf tips of them all. Make sure that you HAVE FUN! It is just a game.

The Importance of Balance on your Golf Swing

Thursday, March 5th, 2009
golf tips
Golf Gift asked:

Mastering the art of the golf swing could be complicated and challenging, and you are most probably trying to improve yours. There are a couple of very simple errors in balance that most people make but can easily be avoided. Here are two simple tips on improving your balance and golf swing, as well as correct the basic slip-ups that you could be doing.

1. A Good Setup, A Good Balance, A Good Swing

A good tip for improving your golf swing would be improving your setup. A lot of golfers do not have a good balance because they started off from a bad setup. If you have a good and solid setup, you would be able to keep balanced as you swing. Maintaining your balance would give you a solid swing plane as well as a good pivot. Make sure keep your whole body under control during your setup so you could improve your balance and swing.

2. Swinging Too Hard

Although having great distance is essential, having perfect control of your swing is equally important. What usually happens is since you want distance, you give your all you can when you swing. This causes you to wheel around and lose your balance, as you swing too hard. What you would need to do is trust your club. It is already designed to send the ball to great lengths so you would need to focus on making your swing as solid, as steady and as balanced as possible to stay in the fairway.
